The following rules are used by the Bondurant Summer Kart League. Participants are required to know and abide by these rules. Ignorance is not bliss!
A. GENERAL
1. Kart league drivers will work in conjunction with the Bondurant to develop rules that promote the league and are not to the detriment of any driving participants.
2. Drivers are expected to be courteous to other drivers and Bondurant staff.
3. Any driver found cheating or trying to gain an unfair advantage, will be expelled for the league for the duration of the league. Bondurant staff will determine the pro-rated share of pre-paid entry money that will be returned to the driver.
4. Bondurant staff has discretion to assess penalties as warranted during or even after the completion of a race.
5 . All drivers will be required to wear either pants with race jackets or race suits (jackets provided by Bondurant).
B. RULES COMMITTEE
1. A rules committee will be formed to represent the interests of the league. This committee will consist of league drivers and Bondurant staff.
2. Any driver can submit request for rules changes or interpretations to the rules to the rules committee. This can be done by sending an email to karting@ikrl.org.
3. The rules committee will evaluate the request and either submit a recommendation or provide options for drivers to consider.
4. All rules changes must be voted upon by kart drivers before taking affect, with a simple majority needed to pass or make rule changes.
5. Rule changes do not go into affect until Bondurant staff agrees the rule is acceptable.
6. If Bondurant staff disagrees with the desired rule due to safety or operational issues, a league meeting will be held to discuss the rule.
7. Drivers must understand and abide by track rules. Failure to abide by track rules may warrant discipline as determined by Bondurant staff.
8. Drivers are responsible for knowing, understanding, and abiding by league rules.
C. WEIGHTS
1. All drivers must weigh in at check-in prior to driving in the qualifier. Only one weigh in is needed per league unless you wish to weigh in due to significant weight gain or loss. To compensate for gear, 5 lbs will be added to all drivers weight to arrive at race weight. All racers will add weight to equal 200 lbs.
* Note- Exception may be allowed for light drivers who may need to weigh-in with ankle weights or vests. All additional weight systems must be cleared by the league directors before it can be used.
2. Bondurant staff may weight drivers randomly after any race to ensure adequate weight is used.
3. Drivers found to be cheating with weights at anytime will be banned for the duration of the league season. Bondurant staff will determine the pro-rated pre-paid entry fee to be refunded to the driver.
4. Race gear consists of suit, helmet, shoes, gloves, protective racing gear, cool suits, weight belts, and seat pads and other miscellaneous gear.
D. FLAGS
1. Red flag means stop immediately.
2. Yellow flag or lights mean caution. All yellows will be full course and no passing is allowed on entire track.
3. Blue flag means a leading driver is approaching and you need to let them pass. This should be done as soon as possible.
4. Drivers should not take advantage of blue flags when racing for position. Drivers violating this rule may be penalized by Bondurnat staff.
5. Drivers battling for position and letting a faster kart pass should not follow the leader to gain a position advantage. Drivers must immediately concede the position advantage back to competitor and race for position after the faster kart has passed.
6. Rolled black flag means you are being watched for rough driving. This is a precursor for a black flag penalty.
7. Black flag mean come into the pit, you are being assessed a penalty or you may have a kart problem that warrants attention by Bondurant staff.
E. RACING
1. Racing is a craft and racers should attempt to pass other drivers without contact.
2. Drivers should assume "open wheel" mentality and minimize contact with other drivers at all times.
3. Bumping to improve track position is prohibited. If bumping results in improving your position, you should give back the position as soon as possible as and no later than 1 lap.
4. Failure to give back this position will result in a black flag penalty.
5. Aggressive driving will no be tolerated. "Aggressive driving" includes bump passing, pushing drivers off preferred racing line, brake checking, and making undue contact with other karts.
6. Penalties for aggressive driving are as follows:
• 1st offense - Rolled black flag warning. Staff is watching your driving.
• 2nd offense - Black flag penalty (Immediate pit stop for length determined by Bondurant staff)
• 3rd offense - 2nd Black flag - your race day is over. Pit immediately.
• Multiple offenses - probation/suspension as determined by Bondurant staff
• Bondurant staff have final say and may apply additional penalties if drivers are prone to aggressive driving over multiple nights
• If you are seen spinning someone out you will be moved to the back of the pack.
F. KARTS
1. Disabled karts (as determined by Bondurant staff):
a) If a kart breaks down during a race due to mechanical issues, the race may be red flagged, the kart removed, and the racer allowed to race in the next heat.
b) If a kart breaks down during a race due to poor driving (i.e. going off track or hitting a barrrier) the driver will be finished racing until the next heat race
2. Kart changes before the race can only occur if the kart is deemed unsafe or not drivable by Bondurant race staff. Drivers that change karts before the green flag will be required to start at the back of the starting grid.
3. Drivers may pit and replace an ill performing kart, but will loose any position during the race to change karts and transfer weights to the replacement kart.
4. Drivers may inspect karts before any race and ask for repairs to be performed prior to the start of the race. If the kart can't be repaired in time for the scheduled race, the drivers will get a replacement kart.
5. Drivers must not perform any mechanical alterations to the kart at any time. Drivers must contact Bondurant race staff if repairs or an alteration is needed (i.e. air in tires). Failure to comply may result in disqualification or as deemed appropriate by Bondurant staff.
G. SCORING
1. Ties will be determined using fastest qualifier lap time. If tie in qualifier, 1st driver to post low time will win tiebreaker.

The Race Director will decide action to be taken as deemed necessary after consulting driver (s) and Bondurant staff and the scorekeeping will make adjustments accordingly.
2. Protests will be resolved, if time permits, at the track. Otherwise affected drivers will be notified by email prior to next race. Ruling on protest are final.
3. Final weekly results may be amended if a protest has been filed.
